the sendfax program you are calling probably does not belong to HylaFAX.

There is a package mgetty+sendfax which has a backend program named sendfax. (http://mgetty.greenie.net/doc/sendfax.man.html)
This program has an option "-x<debuglevel>". HylaFAX' sendfax has "-x company" but that's shown in the man page only, not as usage message.


Maybe you have to change the PATH variable to find the right sendfax program or remove mgetty+sendfax if you don't need it.
