I recently installed HylaFAX-4.2.1_3 onto a FreeBSD 5.4 box. This is actually my second attempt at using the application. I was running the sendfax command to test my installation and received an unexpected error message. I used the command taken from the sendfax man page as follows:

"sendfax -n -d (destination fax#) /etc/passwd
"sendfax: no files to send
"usage:..."

I expected an error(s) but not something like this.

I must be missing something in the process. To be honest, I feel lost.

Would appreciate any advice, next steps, etc., that would help resolve this error. If necessary, I'll start from scratch once more.

Have you run faxsetup?

What about: 'echo test | sendfax -n -d 12345' ... what does that do?

Lee,

No change running "echo", however when running the -x <debug> option, I receive a message, "WARNING: are you sure that this is a G3 fax file? Doesn't seem to be..."

My understanding is that sendfax automatically converts ASCII-text documents through to the server, so I'm a little confused. Before responding, please also understand that I know very little about modems, and facsimiles. Don't assume anything please.

I'm sure I've run faxsetup.

Thanks for your assistance.

Bob
