My recommendation is to uninstall the FreeBSD build of HylaFAX from your system and install from source. Something's not right with what you've got.

I agree something doesn't seem right and I don't have the expertise to debug properly.

I didn't mean to shoo you away. It's just that it will be hard for any of us who aren't responsible for the FreeBSD HylaFAX build to assist you with something that appears to be specific to what you've got.

Understood. However, with HylaFAX there are times when even the help is difficult to understand. When I learn more about facsimiles and modems, I'll re-visit the installation.

If you install from source then the process should be fairly clear about any problems (such as dependency issues) that you may have that will prevent HylaFAX from running properly. With binary installations you rely upon the package management system to ensure that you have all of the dependencies and such that the HylaFAX configure and build process will go through.

I used FreeBSD's ports system so I think that is more a source than binary installation.

Will be in touch soon.

Bob
