Re: [hylafax-users] Phone line busy report

Right now we only have one line and might be adding a second. Dedicating one line to sending and one receiving would work, however it wouldn't help load balancing when our load started to fill up two lines. However once we reached 4-6, or more, lines I think that becomes the best solution.

Let me make sure that I understand. You want a feature that prevents outbound faxing from completely prohibiting your receiving on shared-use modems. Is this right?

If that is right, there currently is no easy way to make that happen. If you have control of the client-side of things then you could, in theory, do some things with the time-to-send that could approximate your needs, but admittedly it would be imperfect.

In considering how to add such a feature, I think maybe something along the lines of a "scheduler time-to-send granularity" would be appropriate. Meaning that the scheduler would not schedule the delivery of two jobs closer than the configured granularity. The effect of such a feature would "stagger" the sending of jobs over a longer period of time, the "gaps" in sending deliberate, then, for the purpose of allowing incoming calls to be received.

Please confirm that this is what you desire.

Thanks,

Lee.
