I can understand that a newbie may possibly notice two mailing lists,

in the end all is well.
Mailing lists aren't just for sending mail and getting new answers
written to your questions; they're also for searching the archives and
finding *old* answers, and for keeping abreast of the project's status.
Searching archives is distinctly inconvenient when those archives are
fragmented.
Keeping abreast of project status is more difficult when many relevant
messages may be sent only to one list or the other.
Consequently, speaking as a user, fragmented mailing lists are less
useful than unified ones when there isn't a clear topical distinction.
As for the Sourceforge Tracker vs. HylaFAX Bugzilla. I think that
they're both as usable as the other.
Again, this misses the objection. One of the important things people
do with bugtrackers is *search for preexisting bugs*. Even bugs that
were closed as INVALID or such on account of the reporter having a
misconfigured system are useful as documentation for folks who are
experiencing those same issues. Spreading such documentation out is
unhelpful.
As Lee saw with the sponsored links, long release cycle, etc, the fact
that you don't agree with something, and can argue rationally against
it, doesn't mean you can force it to stop. Your comments are true, it
_is_ less convenient when there are two mailing lists and two bug
trackers, and I think Lee would be wise to keep these concerns in mind.
Maybe he did weigh that inconvenience factor and found the
get-away-from-the-commercial-sponsor factor was greater. Though I
understand you don't like it, and I find it inconvenient too, that is a
valid choice for him to make.
Regards.
