As Lee saw with the sponsored links, long release cycle, etc, the fact that you don't agree with something, and can argue rationally against it, doesn't mean you can force it to stop.

The release process has evolved over years of open discussion and concensus decisions since the formation of hylafax.org. Neither myself personally, nor iFAX as a sponsor, has had any more influence in the process than Lee, Aidan, Patrice, Phil, Robert, Guilio, Tim, or any of the other contributors. The process has always been open for discussion, and has been refined and/or clarified over the years. Some of the changes have been minor, some of them have been major. The sponsored links have also been actively discussed on the -devel forum, as was the creation of the wiki. In all cases the opinion of the majority was followed.

Bottom line, is that rational arguments _can_ make a difference, and have often effected change.

The developer community, as a democratic group of occasionally like-minded people, has tried to adhere to the principle of 'release often'. If you look at the front page of www.hylafax.org, I don't think we, as a group of developers, have done that badly. The last release was slow to get to the final release stage, but Lee himself contributed to that delay as much as any of us. In the end, we were all working as hard as we could to get the next release out, and the majority of us felt it was important to catch as many bugs as possible before the release.
