I don't get these, but I don't think that matters. I use 4.2.0, this might behave differently.

Before the following messages I get some messages starting with
FaxQueuer[495]: Define AreaCode = "8862"
FaxQueuer[495]: Define CountryCode = "49"
Maybe you don't have full tracing at that time.

After this I have some messages FaxQueuer[495]: FIFO RECV "+faxCAPI:RP3ffdffff:ff" FaxQueuer[495]: MODEM faxCAPI: READY, capabilities P3ffdffff:ff FaxQueuer[495]: FIFO RECV "+faxCAPI:N+49.xxxx.xxxxxxx" FaxQueuer[495]: MODEM faxCAPI: NUMBER +49.xxxx.xxxxxxx (The capabilities stuff is repeated 3 times, the number stuff once.)

I would expect a similar communication in your case.

Is there a way to check this?

If you really have full tracing enabled when the log messages are written, I don't know an option to get more messages from Hylafax.

You could change the startup scripts to start faxq with strace.
