[hylafax-users] tiff g3 compression 1d or 2d

I have a tiff (no compress) file and a ps file to send into a multipage
tiff. I convert ps to tiffg3 with gs. After this I concatenate with
tiffcp:

tiffcp -c g3:2d first_tiff.tif gs_tiff.tif out.tif

It's all ok, I can see with an image viewer this file.
But if I send this file, I receive an error on convert:

Unexpected failure converting TIFF document; the command
/usr/bin/tiffcp -i -c g3:1d -f lsb2msb -r 9999 docq/doc232.tif.222 docq/doc232.tif;01\
failed with exit status 9. This conversion was done because:
Document requires reformatting, client is incapable of receiving 2DMR data.

Now I try to send my two files, concatenated with tiffcp with g3:1d
compression, and it's all ok.

I see that the conversion from a tiff file to correct fax format are made by bin/tiff2fax. I see also that bin/tiff2fax do what another program say to do (with the first parameter [$1]).

My question is: who call bin/tiff2fax? And why this program say to bin/tiff2fax to convert the file?

I hope you understand me.

Thanks,
Michele
