[hylafax-users] problems receiving with conexant modems

   Hello,

I have setup hylafax for two lines, using external Conexant modems (FaxGetty
sees them as MODEM CONEXANT V90/P2109-V90, at+fclass=? says 1,1.0,2,8,10
(what do the last two mean??)), Slackware 9.0 on x86. Sending faxes works just
fine, testing by sending from one to the other same, but a lot of incoming
calls end up with ANSWER: Ring detected without successful handshake. The
most annoying part is that faxes DO get in from several outside senders, but
others have to retry 3-4 times or just give up.
 I have tried flow control rtscts/xonxoff, speed 19200/9600, class 1 and 2 -
to no avail.
The modems work just fine otherwise, I have been using them for dial-up
connections with good transfer rates and they tolerate very well noisy lines.
Also, if I plug in a regular fax machine in the same phone line all calls get
in without errors.
ANY hints received before my boss strangles me would be greatly appreciated
:)

PS. (to the moderators): sorry for the offlist post, subscribing from the web
page seems not to work.
