Thanks for the tip, but it doesn't seem to work.  Now I get: 

# sendfax -d 123456789 /etc/hosts
/usr/local/lib/fax/typerules: line 153: Unknown result "enscript"request id is 6 (group id 6) for host localhost (1 file)

I will try to install on a Red Hat machine.
