i found it the strncmp thing is a bad piece of code, comparing it
with 0 worked ;).
anyway, i found another problem, when i went through the
configure step and tried to build it i got plenty of:
make[3]: *** No rule to make target `/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-linux/2.95.../../../i
nclude/g++-3/osfcn.h', needed by `Dispatcher.o'.  Stop.

actually, it is 2.95.2 and not 2.95... maybe there is a mistake
in the configure script when it builds the Makefiles?
and there are plenty other 2.95... mistakes. any ideas?
