"Install Linux". More seriously, I smell a problem on your Windows box.
WHFC requires Winsock 2 to run correctly: could there be a problem with
the network drivers of the Windows box or boxes? And have you rebooted
the Windows box, and is this freezing on *ALL* the Windows clients?
