To quote from the config manpage :

"The syntax is ``<name>:<regex>'' where <name> is the name for the class
and <regex> is a regular expression that faxq(8C) matches against known
modems."

I'm not an expert in regular expressions, but I don't think that 
'tty[47-48]' will do what you think it does. Unless you have a third
(or more) modems which you do not want to use for outbound faxes, I
suggest you delete the ModemClass parameter and rely on the default
of 'any:*'.

This was the subject of a fairly long thread in this mailing list 
about two weeks ago; have a look in the archives for the subject 
'Re: flexfax: Missing ':' separator' for all the gory details.

You have run faxaddmodem and have (or should have) a config file for each
modem (ie config.tty47 and config.tty48). You also need faxgetty running
against each port as well.

So you should have two faxgetty processes on your machine...?
