Re: [hylafax-users] lastDialFailure:"No carrier detected" - Asterisk + Hylafax via IAXModem

Hi Duncan,

one more question, does version of SpanDSP matter?
I'm using SpandDSP 0.0.2 because I couldn't complie Asterisk with SpanDSP 0.0.3 that comes with iaxmodem.

I checked deamon.log and its something like this:

Hi Pimjai

I had this skew adjustment before too but it didn't come every time - Lee could explain further and its worth checking the iaxmodem forums but I think the key bit is the remote hangup message

The Unknown DSP control handler: 8 is just a message according to Lee and I get it a lot and it doesn't seem to matter

The bit is despite all the errors etc is that the sending fax hung up first and its most probably because it can't hear the carrier signal - this is reflected in the NO CARRIER message from hylafax.

Dial it from another phone and listen to how loud it is, you can play with the sound levels in Asterix but this is not so much anything to do with hylafax as the telephony network

Check out Zapata.conf which has tx and rx levels - if you are using analog lines (not sure if applies to ISDN) and find and use the ztmonitor tool to get a view of the noise levels It sounds like you need to boost the transmit so the far end hears better but you may also need to bump up the receive for your iaxmodem to hear the far end and then respond. Its a bit of trial and error unless you have proper sound gear

Cheers Duncan
