if you want to use a Linux or UNIX system I suggest you learn some (more) shell script programming.

`date` means the shell calls the "date" command and substitutes "`date`" with the output of this command. You don't have to define "date" but nou need to have a "date" command.

You have to use the correct quoting characters. (backquote / backtip / gravis accent)

If I just change the script as you suggest, it doesn't seem to work.
(I haven't found a specific error yet, but now I'm not receiving any
confirmation e-mail...)

In order to find the bug you can call the script manually. HylaFAX should show the exact command line in the logfile.
