Re: [hylafax-users] Unknown problem (check modem power)

Michele Petrazzo wrote:

Hi list,
I have an hylafax server with a USRobotics Sportster Message Plus, with
the "default" configuration created with faxaddmodem. Sometime, when
send a fax, I receive an error that say Unknown problem (check modem
power), but the modem have power, of course.
Is there a method for understand why?
Only other question: here (into the log) I see that the server wait
three minutes for the modem reply (12:36 -> 12:39). Is this possible?

Thanks,
Michele

This is the log:

The modem reset itself after the dial. (Such is the fun that comes with USR modems.) That said, your dial command is a bit complicated, and the dial command could be triggering the fault in the modem. Try using a more simple dial command and see if the same fault occurs.
