Thank you for that small, but VERY important twist - that the parameter has to 
be set in BOTH files. I am now logged on with faxgetty running and no 
conflict.
 
I thank all for their suggestions and feedback, especially, Charles Duffy and 
Aidan Van Dyk. Both contributed greatly to getting faxgetty and kppp working 
together.
