Lee,

I do not see the "Class1SwitchingCmd" option in the hylafax config
documentation, is this new with 1.4.8?

It was new for 4.1.3. See 'man hylafax-config'. Is it not there?

I put the line: "Class1SwitchingCmd: <delay:7>" exactly as you typed
it into
my "config.ttyS1" config file including the "<" and ">" symbols, is
this
correct?

Yes.

You also mentioned that this is a common problem with the USR modem.
Would
you be able to recomend something better?

For single-line analog modems I would recommend the MT5634ZBA-V92 for externals and the MT5634ZPX-PCI-V92 for internals. Update the firmware and run them in Class 1.0 with HylaFAX 4.2.0 or Class 2.1 with 4.1.8.

Lee.
