[hylafax-users] newbie question: troubleshoot sendfax error messages

Hi,

I'm new to hylafax. Tried the faq and the archives for a solution to
this, hope someone here can help.

After re-running faxaddmodem to reconfigure my modem from class 2.0 to
1, I now get the following errors when testing with sendfax (:

root@hyla log # sendfax -n -D -d wxxxyyyzzz /home/jonathan/testpage
Trying fax device '/dev/tty4c'... cannot open!
Trying fax device '/dev/tty4d'... cannot open!
sendfax: cannot access fax device(s) (locked?)

This odd since the only serial port entered during setup was /dev/ttyS4.
probemodem finds the modem fine, faxes can be received. There is no
/dev/tty4c or d on the machine.

/sbin/init q produces the following log output:

Oct 18 08:06:18 [init] Re-reading inittab
Oct 18 08:06:27 [FaxGetty] MODEM USR U.S. Robotics 56K FAX INT

        5/16/2001_DSP rev 5.20.4

faxstat:

HylaFAX scheduler on localhost: Running
Modem ttyS4 (w xxx yyy zzzz): Running and idle

Restoring config.ttyS4.sav to config.ttyS4 did not help. Can someone
point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Jonathan
