Re: [hylafax-users] Remote modem

I try with http://www.linuxlots.com/~termpkg/
As suggested by Joe (the program's athor) I've used the following
termnetd.conf on the machine connected to the modem:
3000:on:/dev/ttyS0:B38400 CREAD CLOCAL IGNBRK CRTSCTS CS8;
3001:on:/dev/ttyS1:B38400 CREAD CLOCAL IGNBRK CRTSCTS CS8;

(note the CREAD option I've added after Joe suggestion).

Then, on the hylafax machine, I've launched ttyd as follows:
./ttyd -d /dev/ptya0 192.168.1.17 3000

(192.168.1.17 is the machine with the modem connected phisically)

After all I try to add that modem to the hylafax modems:
#  faxaddmodem ttya0

but, the response was:
Probing for best speed to talk to modem: 38400
Unable to deduce DTE-DCE speed; check that you are using the
correct device and/or that your modem is setup properly. If
all else fails, try the -s option to lock the speed.

So I try with:
#  faxaddmodem ttya0 -s 38400

but the response was:
Using user-specified 38400 to talk to modem.
/dev/ttya0: Input/output error
/dev/ttya0: Input/output error
/usr/sbin/faxaddmodem: line 818: /dev/ttya0: Input/output error
/usr/sbin/faxaddmodem: line 819: /dev/ttya0: Input/output error
/usr/sbin/faxaddmodem: line 821: /dev/ttya0: Input/output error
/usr/sbin/faxaddmodem: line 823: kill: (7712) - No such process
/usr/sbin/faxaddmodem: line 1: /tmp/.faxaddmodem7664/addmodem7664: No such
file or directory
/usr/sbin/faxaddmodem: line 1: /tmp/.faxaddmodem7664/addmodem7664: No such
file or directory

There was no response from the modem. Perhaps the modem is
turned off or the cable between the modem and host is not
connected.

Any ideas?
Thank you,
Nico
