Re: [hylafax-users] What's required to make faxpolling work?
Seems, Class 1 doesn't solve the problem, either, not even with a
DestControls file.
Could it be a time issue? I observe the following: The hardware clock is
running on UTC, but my desktop is running on Berlin time (which is UTC
+ 1 hour + 1 hour "daylight savings time" in summer). On the other
hand: I only found a hint that all remote machines using a Hylafax
server should be in time sync with the Hylafax server computer; in my
case, I am currently running server and client programs from one and
the same machine...
More see below...

Gentle long-form of RTFM, but right you are, thanks for pointing me to
the obvious. 8-) But there are so many manpages for Hylafax, that I
just had overlooked the relevant one... ;-) Serious: I found the
relevant section in the manpage for hylafax-server, now.
Unfortunately, setting the modem type in the DestControls has no effect.
The modem still doesn't even try to dial a number.... So I'll have to
look why it dials like expected with
sendfax -d,
but not with
sendfax -p -d.
But it doesn't dial, and there are no log file entries explaining, why.
I wonder if modem class has any effect *before* dialling.... I'll check
that with the modem running in Class 1 mode. I ran faxsetup and
faxaddmodem again and set up my modem as Class 1. However, the result
is still the same: No polling.
Here's the job report email from the server for the job I tried to use
for polling with the modem set up as a Class 1 device.
Your facsimile job to 0190252223844 could not be completed before the
appointed deadline.
