I think you're right about Gfax.  Although the links page at Hylafax.org says 
it's "New", there the Gnome Bugzilla site has unanswered bug reports that are 
almost a year old.  The current version doesn't seem to work at all with 
current libraries.

I recently made a private survey of the Unix clients, and the only one that 
seems to work is tkhylafax.  Some of the others like 'Susefax' can't be found 
at all, and some like Jhylafax are advertised to be unfinished and discarded.
