Hello, and thanks for your suggestions.

I found the problem meanwhile:
It seems that the newer HylaFAX versions has a different default behaviour in
relation to the version of SuSE 5.2. Now I have to explicitely set xonxoff and
many of the modem commands inside the config.ttySx file, which was not
necessary at SuSE 5.2.
