It does get sent. And I can read it.

I don't have .hylarc, hyla.conf only has the two "Font*"-Lines with
"common" in it (did a grep)

textfmt -f Courier /etc/hosts > hosts.ps
textfmt: No font metric information found for "Courier".
Usage: textfmt [-1] [-2] [-B] [-c] [-D] [-f fontname] [-F fontdir(s)] [-m N] [-o #] [-p #] [-r] [-U] [-Ml=#,r=#,t=#,b=#] [-V #] files... >out.ps
Default options: -f com -1 -p 11bp -o 0
Ah - "-f com"? Where does textfmt get its defaults from (if I understand
man correctly its hyla.conf itself? there is no default-setting in it?)
fax:/etc/hylafax# grep TextFont hyla.conf
fax:/etc/hylafax#
What would be a filename of a font e.g. Courier that I could look
for in Debians packages?
http://packages.debian.org/cgi-bin/search_contents.pl?word=Courier&searchmode=searchfiles&case=sensitive&version=stable&arch=i386&directories=yes

yes.
Balu
PS: I had to set up "TagLineFont: etc/lutRS18.pcf" in
/etc/hylafax/config.ttyS0 to get a TagLine.
Shouldn't adding that to /etc/hylafax/config be enough (didn't work
there)
