[hylafax-users] BrookTrout TruFAX
I send this message to warn all up-front. Do NOT get a BrookTrout TruFAX
card under assumptions that it will work with HylaFAX, because it won't.
Although the TruFAX cards are hardware-controlled, use good ol' 14.4
Rockwell chips, and are quite robust in capability and functionality [on
paper], BrookTrout has seen fit to implement an encrypted hardware
communication of sorts, and you will NOT be able to "talk" with the modem
unless you purchase the development package and port the API and driver
code to HylaFAX use as a "wrapper" of sorts.
So, if you're looking for a way to get a bunch of analog faxmodems into one
system, allow me to suggest a Comtrol RocketModem (or RocketPort with
modems attached). They work very well for this purpose. Observe:
[root@newton deanox]# /sbin/lsmod
Module Size Used by
rocket 23616 8
[root@newton deanox]# faxstat
HylaFAX scheduler on newton.deanox.com: Running
Modem ttyR5 (+1.435.755.0959): Running and idle
Modem ttyR1 (+1.435.755.0959): Running and idle
Modem ttyR0 (+1.435.755.0959): Running and idle
Modem ttyR7 (+1.435.755.0959): Running and idle
Modem ttyR2 (+1.435.755.0959): Running and idle
Modem ttyR3 (+1.435.755.0959): Running and idle
Modem ttyR4 (+1.435.755.0959): Running and idle
Modem ttyR6 (+1.435.755.0959): Running and idle
[root@newton deanox]#
That's one ISA card. :-)
Lee.
