Then someone has been mucking with the TIFF source for your system
without propagating the changes back into the source tree at
ftp://ftp.sgi.com/graphics/tiff/, which is TIFF 3.4beta037 at last
check. This would seem reasonable to patch to say "version 3.4 or later".

??? Why does mkstemp fail under HPUX? It's an important function for
many programs to prevent the overlap of temporary files and really
shouldn't fail!
