Failure of "FINE" fax tiff for reading

I am sending faxes to an otherwise functional Hylfax system, and their
quality type is "fine" coming from another computer based faxing system (Fax
Sr. on a Microsoft Exchange server). The created fax tiff files are
unreadable by just about everything I try to read them from (Microsoft
Imaging, Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro 5, etc...). If I send from a
normal standalone fax which sends quality of "normal" the faxes are readable
and fine.

I've tried using the hylafax-v4.0pl2-rjc10.tar.gz compliation on a box stock
RedHat 6.0 box, and get these results, so I went back to a RedHat 5.2 box
using the RPMS from the website (including the ghostscript updates), and get
the same results. I'm using an otherwise excellent Multi-Tech MT2834ZDX
modem. This box will process only incoming faxes, so it's essential I
figure a way around this. The resulting tiff files cannot even be passed
through the tiff2ps script without "invalid format" issues.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
