 I have had similar problem deleting faxes from the queue... as I reckon
it, there is a delay (like a DNS timeout) everytime I delete a message
...

advice for your login issue is :

check hosts on W95 (lmhosts too??)
check your email response address is name@localhost or a working
name@mydomain
check that your dns or hosts entry on linux for the W95 pc
