You need a C++ compiler: this includes the libg++ for Linux,
or ecgs for more recent Linux releases.

I also recommend you simply use the RPM at ftp://ftp.tpc.int/pub/hylafax,
my installation notes at cirl.meei.harvard.edu/hylafax/ and consider
using my patches from that directory if you really want to compile
from source.
