It is possible not to notice it for quite some time.  I noticed it
because I found that if the timing was right, a new job would fail 
completely because of the problem, during the period between a BUSY/NO ANSWER
send attempt and when faxgetty would next talk to the modem (several 
second window).

I found someone else who did not have the problem, using firmware 
0316D, while I have the problem using the exact same config file and
modem settings, with firmware version 0313A.  This is not 100% conclusive 
yet, because other things about our hardware and software are probably 
different.

Since I'm also having the problem on a 2834BLR modem as well
as a 2834ZDX, I'm going to try flash upgrading the 2834BLR.
