Todd, the options for faxaddmodem (according to the man page for
"config") are AdaptiveAnswer, AnswerRotary, ModemSetupAACmd, and
ModemAnswer*Cmd.

Properly set, they can tell your modem to answer the phone in the
various data, fax, and/or voice modes. Properly setting them can be a
bit awkward: the modem manuals often do not include details, such as
needing to set +FCLASS=0 for +FAA=1 to properly do auto-adaptive mode
on the old Rockwell modems.
