[hylafax-users] faxgetty, wont' run

The faxgetty daeomon is supposed to persist as a
background process right?  If so, mine isn't running

I run as root "faxgetty modem" where modem is my
configured modem, then ps -A|grep faxgetty produces
nothing.

Any ideas as to what is going on?
