| All of the TCF attempts through V.17 speeds and V.29 failed [from what I
| saw] due to too-short of zero-runs. Finally V.27ter 2400 bps
| succeeds... which could mean a lot of things. But the fact that the
| zero runs always seemed short seems to indicate that the modem is slow
| to train in the high-speed modes. So the CONNECT message comes later
| than it should, and consequently some initial data is missed... and the
| missing TCF data causes a training failure, and so it goes until the
| speed is so slow that few-enough bytes are missed to prevent TCF from
| failing.
|
| What kind of modem is /dev/tty1A ?

My /dev/tty1A (rcvg modem) is a no-name, using the rc288dpi-1 config
file. It receives fine fro years from all manner of places.

The sending modem is the Topic Model=TP560 that we were discussing
yesterday w/r to faxaddmodem and awk.

| But this looks rather bad. At least at V.27ter 2400 bps the signal
| getting through is very poor.

| The sender gave up... and I can certainly understand why.
|
| So at this point you need to start trying to figure out why TCF is
| failing and why the modem is having such a hard time with the audio, at
| least at V.27ter 2400 bps.

I had the remote dial my voice line. I hear a bit of crackle...
