Re: [hylafax-users] minimum page size

Some documents are coming through hylafax with just a few lines. There is no clue in the log to suggest this is the fault of hylayfax, as the faxes with 6 or 7 lines are reported in the log, and the fax session terminates normally, so hylafax knows this fax is short. Probably the sender has terminated the fax or something. Because the fax is so short, it converts to a weird document size so it hangs up the printers.

How can I make hylafax treat the document as an 8.5 x 11 document when the fax is only a few lines long? I can't arbitrarily treat all faxes as 8.5 x 11 because some are legal docs, but I need some way to detect these "incomplete" faxes amd resize them.

One way that I "filter" received faxes is that (in FaxDispatch) I use tiffsplit, then I analyze each resulting file, and then I rejoin all "acceptable" pages using tiffcp. I usually recommend storing the new result in a different location thatn the original (thus not overwriting it), but that's not always possible, especially if you use client software... in which case I recommend copying the original to a temporary backup somewhere.
