The fax-server is running und faxing without a problem.
But after one day in productive use I saw that the two log-files
/var/log/messages und /var/log/warn were over 20 MB in size each. So I
checked them and saw the amount of 670679 entries (just one day of
logging!) with the following messages from HylafaFAX:

This is a debug log which slipped in. It was removed before 4.2.2:

That´s it! Thank you for answering my question. After heavily searching via google I´m surprised that I found no one other with the same problem like us. Maybe I used the wrong search-words.

By the way, is there any rpm-package for Suse 9.3 - 32-bit available?

The next strange thing is that the timestamp of the log-entry is one
hour behind the normal system time.

Has someone a hint to a solution for that problems?

syslogd was most likely started in another time zone (before a time
change, maybe). When syslog starts, it initializes it's time settings
so it can convert time (tracked since epoch) into human-friendly
strings. If it was in a different timezone than your standard one now,
then you get this effect.

Hm, I wonder why other log-entries have the corret timestamp.
