[hylafax-users] Hylafax.org/Sourceforge... whatever!

As an avid user of hylafax who has taken more time
than I really have to learn more and more of the
nuances of this application I am truly impressed by
it's capabilities.

It's with great frustration that I read Mr. Howard's
"announcement" <ambush> regarding the Sourceforge site
he has assembled <plagiarized>.

Mr. Howard, you repeatedly provide this list numerous
answers from your wealth of knowledge on fax
protocols, and from what I have gathered reading
various threads, your knowledge of programming as
least as it relates to hylafax and faxing.
Unfortunately, you insist on constantly interjecting
non-topical remarks; be they sarcastic, demeaning,
self-gratifying or simply just pointed (typically at
the individuals associated with iFax) always with an
overtone of arrogance and loathing. This is not a
personal attack on you, rather an objective statement
supported by your own writings and which can be
readily seen by any thinking person.

What your "announcement" boils down to is "nobody
wants to play my way, so I'm taking my ball and going
home", plain and simple. However, it's not "your ball"
no matter how badly you wish it were. Societies,
communities of any kind really, are based not only on
cooperation, but *tolerance*. Your apparent lack of
tolerance for the things you do not like has in fact
made you virtually intolerable on numerous occasions.

I will continue to subscribe to this list (only) as I
enjoy (constructive) dialog about the app. I
occasionally have a question, which albeit is often
just a matter of not RTFMing, but I'm usually just
seeking someone to point the way (kindly) rather than
doing the legwork for me. And when I see a question I
feel confident answering I do. THAT'S what a community
does.

I cannot resist making one comment that will probably
be deemed as mud-slinging. I wonder, for someone who
(though he may deny it as a courtesy) considers
himself measurably superior to... everyone(?), why you
felt compelled to hijack the look-and-feel of
hylafax.org rather than distinguish yourself with a
distinct, new "skin"? I fell it was deliberately done
to create confusion to those who come onboard later,
further supporting my earlier statements.

In closing, it is my hope that the larger part of this
community shares my general viewpoints on how grown
people *should* behave and we can focus on the *real*
purpose of this list and application -- sending and
receiving faxes and helping each other do it in the
manner they choose.

Laker
