Well I don't know why but in my hosts file my 127.0.0.1 was below my real ip 
address and I moved 127.0.0.1 localhost to the top of the lines and restarted 
my network and it started to say my modem was up and running.  I guess it 
couldn't communicate with localhost for that reason.
