Latest CVS HEAD and 4.2.2beta2 are exactly the same thing right now.  
I'd recommend that over 4.2.1.

I last installed CVS HEAD on Mac OS X 10.4 about a month ago.  I used 
the script here:

 http://bugs.hylafax.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=370

I also had to remove POSIX_PRIORITY_SCHEDULING from port.h after 
./configure was run because Mac OS X defines it but doesn't support it.
