You don't say which OS are you using at the desktop.
Guindows?
If that's the case, use Samba. Install a Postscript
driver in every machine and in Samba's side call a
script where you redirect the data to a local file and
transform it to PDF. And if I'm correct you can even
pick user's information and sent it the document as
PDF, by email.
