Apparently there are some USR Winmodems with Conexant chipsets (namely 
the 5660).  Only those work with the Linuxant drivers.  The traditional 
USR Winmodems use some other chip (TI or 3Com, I suspect), and those 
won't work with the Linuxant drivers.
