Re: [hylafax-users] Does hylafax work on Fedora Core 2?

HylaFAX works fine and dandy for me on FC2.

I solved the user/password problem by first reading the man page for
hosts.hfaxd.

Not knowing how to create encrypted passwords for the above file, I guessed
maybe it might work using the encrypted password created when one creates a
new user for the system. They are no longer in /etc/passwd but rather in
/etc/shadow.

Follow the instructions for creating a username in the man page for
hosts.hfaxd but here is a part of etc/hosts.hfaxd that I use which works if
the user logs in with either his username or his whole e-mail address.

[root@Beaker etc]# less hosts.hfaxd
localhost
127.0.0.1
#PAF entries are in the form client:UID:passwd
#PAF UID is from /etc/passwd, passwd is taken from /etc/shadow
paul:500:$1$Yh4dtmmmungedkP.ajYS.GR1
elias:520:$1$4BLzKO4mungedNV068tn2/3rr.
rochana:501:$1$GdBmungedportionsosgoA4PwIIaUSLXf/

The encrypted password is taken from the second field in /etc/shadow.

This works fine and dandy for me for logging in. WHFC won't complete any job
for me because the job gets NAK's by the server immediately after
submission. Haven't been able to solve that problem though.
