Thought so. So, this is not the reason why it is not sending immediately.

Any other ideas

Have you used faxmodem to add the modem? After the first job is sent what happens if you use faxstate to say the modem is ready again?

Is the modem actually ready after its finished sending the first job? What are the output of the logs (syslog and that specific fax) when turned all the way up? Maybe the modem is hanging.
