Re: [hylafax-users] Merging FaxCover with main fax.

WHFC is open-source, though.
Even if it did I still don't see the assurance that we need regarding
the
FaxCover variables being filled in when the server receives it as a
document.
Sigh. Maybe I'm just not being clear enough. So, again...
The server does not produce the fax cover sheet. The client does. Any
"fields"/"variables" of which you speak are populated and handled
completely on the client side.
Don't believe me? Then submit a fax for yourself with coversheet with
the "date+time" on it to hfaxd, but do not have faxq running. An hour
or so later start up faxq and let the fax transmit, and then go take a
look at that fax that was received. Note that the date+time indicates
the time that it was submitted by the client, not the time that faxq
prepared it or faxsend sent it. Why? Because the coversheet was
imaged by the client program, not the server.
To the server there is no difference between a "document" and a
"coversheet" except that it will always transmit the coversheet first
and will delete it once it is transmitted. faxq deletes it before the
fax is complete. It's gone before any "scripts" are run that can be
"hooked".
I guess it must do, or you probably wouldn't have suggested
it,
but guessing isn't enough to send me off looking for source codes, and
hacking, recompiling WHFC etc.
It would be better for me to know how to hook into the scripts just
before
the faxcover was deleted,
Hook into what scripts, exactly? There are none to hook that occur
between the send and the delete. Now, if you want to "hook in" before
the send, then you could write your own faxsend wrapper and set the
FaxSendCmd in your config file to your wrapper script.
and then I could convert, or copy & convert,
that
to a PDF at that point. Unless you have a better idea of course.
I've suggested Pyla.
