I had a similar problem myself - not sure if my reply last month was the
one Matt was referring to, but here goes anyway :-)
I'm going to guess your faxrcvd script contains something like this:
ENCODING=base64
MIMENCODE=/usr/bin/mimencode
TTYCMD=tty
. etc/setup.cache
My problem was that etc/setup.cache contained a null value for the ENCODING
variable so my change was over-ridden as the faxrcvd script executed. This
caused faxes to view correctly from the file stored on the computer, but to
be unreadable from email attachments.
