Hear, hear.

USB scanners are so much trash, alas.  They take a long time to "power on",
waiting for the "lamp", etc, etc.  Then they take their time scanning, and
some scanner software is just plain b-a-d.

I much prefer the old workflow with the old SCSI scanners feeding directly
into Photoshop.
