From the log you gave, I think that the restart procedure did not correctly killed the old daemons. Please issue, as root, the command '/etc/init.d/hylafax stop' then check with 'ps aux | grep fax' if you still have hfaxd and faxq running. If they are running then use the kill command against both of them and then start hylafax with the command '/etc/init.d/hylafax start'. This should solve the problem.
