Re: [hylafax-users] E-Mail Notification Problems...Again!
Just the Fax, that works great...but e-mail,... eh!
The server has been hidden in the cold room with only me occassionally looking at the logs using ssh. Outside of that, nothing else ever happens to this machine except it sends out faxes. The IT guys won't touch it cause it's not M$ and they swear they have changed nothing in the network topology either.
Like last time, I blew away the drive and reinstalled FreeBSD and HylaFax. This time it did not fix the e-mail problem. I am still receiving the "Domain of sender address does not exist" message.
I understand what is happening, that some mail server somewhere does not recognize the domain name I'm using. This domain name is a perfectly legal and fully qualified domain name. And this very same server worked just fine only a week or so ago. That's what is so difficult about these issues is that something must have changed, but what?
Any further advice would be appreciated.

I don't know sendmail; however, I do know other MTAs.
Check /etc/aliases who is FaxMaster aliased to? Does that user, in fact,
exist?
Have you run any system upgrades? Did these upgrades come with new
configuration files? Did you install the new configuration files? If so,
recheck the sendmail configuration. Perhaps yours was overwritten?
On you hylafax server, try to telnet to localhost on port 25 and then
try sending an email following the instructions here:
HELO somedomain.com
MAIL FROM: someuser@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
RCPT TO: recipient@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
DATA
Subject: testing sendmail
test message
.
(the dot alone on the last line is important).
