Re: [hylafax-users] New notify shell script, how do I get involved

Hi,

I have not been involved in an open source project before so I don't know the form when it comes to helping out. As it stands I have installed the CVS on a debian system and have knocked up a couple of scripts to handle email to fax and web to fax on the box. I was also unhappy with the functionality of notify.awk and came across the new shell replacement authored by Frank Brock and referenced under bug 513 [0] which I now have working to a fashion after some tweaking. It is the latter that I would like to help with, as I say just let me know how.

Simon

This work has now been committed to CVS (last night). It isn't part of 4.2.0beta1, but it will be in beta2.

Basically what needs to be done is people need to use this new work and comment on what they do or don't like about it. If you can write a code patch (recode, then diff against the old version) then that's great, if not then someone else probably will if they agree with your complaint/suggestion. However, that discussion should either take place on hylafax-devel (not here) or on a Bugzilla report.

For example, if you need notify to do your thingamabob and it cannot be presently done with adding a few lines to the FaxNotify feature, then we'd like to know.
