[hylafax-users] Ring detected without successful handshake

So far this month I've had 43 calls with the above error, all the logs look like

Mar 03 09:12:48.69: [ 5602]: SESSION BEGIN 00006369 XXXXXX
Mar 03 09:12:48.69: [ 5602]: HylaFAX (tm) Version 4.1.7
Mar 03 09:12:48.69: [ 5602]: <-- [19:AT+FCC=,,,,,0,,0;A\r]
Mar 03 09:13:37.49: [ 5602]: --> [7:+FHS:11]
Mar 03 09:13:37.49: [ 5602]: REMOTE HANGUP: No answer (T.30 T1 timeout) (code 11)
Mar 03 09:13:37.49: [ 5602]: ANSWER: Ring detected without successful handshake
Mar 03 09:13:37.49: [ 5602]: SESSION END

Looking at syslog the modem state before and after this missed call seems to be the same each time

Mar 3 12:47:30 fax FaxGetty[5602]: STATE CHANGE: ANSWERING -> RUNNING (timeout 30)
Mar 3 12:47:30 fax FaxGetty[5602]: MODEM input buffering disabled
Mar 3 12:48:06 fax FaxGetty[5602]: STATE CHANGE: RUNNING -> LISTENING
Mar 3 12:48:06 fax FaxGetty[5602]: MODEM input buffering enabled
Mar 3 12:48:07 fax FaxGetty[5602]: --> [4:RING]
Mar 3 12:48:07 fax FaxGetty[5602]: STATE CHANGE: LISTENING -> ANSWERING
Mar 3 12:48:07 fax FaxGetty[5602]: MODEM input buffering enabled
Mar 3 12:48:54 fax FaxGetty[5602]: ANSWER: Ring detected without successful handshake
Mar 3 12:48:54 fax FaxGetty[5602]: <-- [5:ATH0\r]
Mar 3 12:48:54 fax FaxGetty[5602]: --> [2:OK]
Mar 3 12:48:54 fax FaxGetty[5602]: MODEM set DTR OFF
Mar 3 12:48:55 fax FaxGetty[5602]: MODEM set DTR OFF
Mar 3 12:48:55 fax FaxGetty[5602]: DELAY 75 ms
Mar 3 12:48:55 fax FaxGetty[5602]: MODEM set DTR ON
Mar 3 12:48:55 fax FaxGetty[5602]: DELAY 2600 ms

This seems to be a normal behaviour: the fax is idle, receives a ring, produces the session log, and once done (in this case an error) starts initializing the modem again. Am I missing something? Where else can I look? Previously this error has been quite rare, for the three days this month its happened more often than faxes we've properly received. THe modem is a MODEM MULTI-TECH SYSTEMS MT5634ZPX-PCI-U/1.32f in class 2.0.

We've also been getting a lot of No carrier detected message this month, which is the subject of my next email.

Thanks.
