"SEND end page" is just a logging message. The corresponding TIFF data is the RTC code (theoretically optional in faxing) followed by DLE+ETX.

That's possible, but highly unlikely. That behavior would violate T.30 (fax) protocol. The receiver should at least send DCN (disconnect signal). More likely is that the remote receiver is having problems with the data or with the timing of that data and preceding signals.

the way the "number of pages" is sent?

The "number of pages" is never communicated. There is no "number of pages" communication in fax protocol. The receiver is supposed to wait for the "this is the last page" signal called EOP. Your logs indicate that the "this is not the last page" signal, called MPS, was sent.
